A Stay in The Red Caboose!

Wildlife Prairie Park

Our adventure started long before we arrived.  Our first call to the park was delightful, Nancy made me feel as if I've been missing out on a great adventure. She was friendly and so helpful with the planning of our trip.  We were greeted as if we've known each other for years.  The check in was fast, we were ready to start exploring in no time.
The Prairie Zephyr train ride was fun and packed with halloween season decor, actually little surprises along the way.  The train is an additional cost but well worth it. You can hop on and off during the ride. The leaves are beginning to change which made the scenery awesome.

The grounds are beautiful.   Depending on your spot in the park,  wildlife can be viewed all over. The many trails are great.  Exploring the prairie is a photographers dream. There's a lot to see and do, they even have an educational center . We suggest you leave the park for dinner as the selection wasn't plentiful during this time of year. Great for a snack while in the park.

There are several accommodations to choose from.  The choice was hard, maybe we'll try the stables, no maybe the cottages. We eventually chose the Red Caboose, which was next to the prairie. Nancy was most helpful when it came to our decision. The area had a picnic shelter with tables and a fire pit.  In the evening the deer were not shy. Caboose #3 it was!  Roomy, narrow and had all the necessities. Even a small tv.  You can see the stars on a clear night.

What a wonderful park!
Wildlife everywhere.  The park didn't open its gates to the public until 1978, though it was in the making long before that.  Since then the Prairie Park has become one of the Midwest leading destinations and visitors come and enjoy all the park has to offer.
