Zoo Miami's New Exhibit!

FLORIDA: MISSION EVERGLADES

Florida: Mission Everglades is located right at the front entryway, which is the first exhibit as you enter the zoo. The area has 4.5 acres of endangered or threaten  animals.  You can visit different habitats found in Florida.

Lost Man's River

I was pleasantly surprise at the new exhibit as I walked around.  The flamingos are back and are as pretty as ever. The area is a replica of the Everglades with an airboat ride on Lost Man's River (an additional fee).

60 species of native animals to the everglades are represented, like the black bears, bobcat, Florida panther, American alligators, crocodiles, bald eagle, burrowing owl, frogs, other reptiles and lots of birds.

Can't leave out the adorable North American river otters that watch and wait for you to slide down through the water tunnel with them.  You can also go through a tunnel as the biggest American crocodile I've ever seen floats around you.

You can explore the hammocks and pine lands. Walk across the rope bridge with alligators below if you dare! The Cypress Landing playground is equipped with a water shooting Cypress tree to keep the kids busy for hours.

Mission Everglades educates you on the environment and what it takes to preserve the area that at one point had twice as many animals and species. You can purchase a commemorative brick to help preserve the everglades. This exhibit will definitely make you want to visit the actual Everglades!
