What's Your Favorite Park?

April 21-29, 2018 is National Park Week.
There are 59 US National Parks
scattered throughout the United States and it's territories.
These parks make up only a fraction of the
417 sites that compress the National Park Service.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park
I have visited only 7 of the 59.
Les and the boys have
doubled me so I have some catching up to do! Hopefully I'll catch up soon.

Cable Grist Mill In Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mnts NP

Great Smoky Mtns NP
According to National Geographic,
the number one most visited park is
the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Which drew more than 11 million visitors,
twice the amount of the second most visited park.
One of our favorite parks to visit happens
to be the number one most visited!
This was our favorite as the
kids were growing up.
So much to do and see!

Park Loop Road, Acadia National Park

My next favorite is listed as the number seven on the list,
Acadia National Park where the sea meets the mountains.
Most of the park is located on Desert Mountain Island.
Cadillac Mountain in Acadia is said to be the
first place you can see the sun rise
depending on the time of year.

Our go to park is located in our own backyard (Miami).
 Everglades National Park
didn't make the list, but is the largest tropical wilderness
in the United States, and the third largest
National Park in the lower 48 states after
Death Valley and Yellowstone.

Anhinga Trail, Everglades National Park

Everglades NP

South Florida also is the only
place two species of crocodilians
(there are 23 species) coexist.
There are 4 visitor centers in the park.
Some of the most beautiful sunsets
can be seen while visiting the park.

Now get out there and
explore your favorite national park!!
