Our Favorite Free Spots!!

When our kids were young we looked for vacation spots that wouldn't break the bank. After all these years we still have favorite spots we continue to visit and still enjoy!

Overseas Highway
The Florida Keys
A ride on the highway is priceless.  There's nothing like the scenery, you'll see lots of restaurants, shops, fishing spots and activities as you drive the highway. You will be at the southernmost point once you reach the end. US Highway 1 starts or ends here!!

The Alamo
San Antonio, Texas
A Monument to the battle of the Texas Revolution, it's very interesting.  The gardens are beautiful and the history is laid out before you. You can't take photos inside but there's plenty for you to snap away outside.

Niagara Falls
Niagara(American/Canadian)
You can tour either side, of course a passport is needed for the Canadian side. There is a parking fee if you choose to park, but the falls can be seen with just a short walk from many hotels.  It truly is a site to see.  The illumination, rainbow of the falls should be on your bucket list.

Golden Gate Bridge
San Francisco, California
You can drive across the bridge, which is huge or you can view the bridge and get awesome photos from Battery Spencer Park.

Pike Place Market
Seattle, Washington
The nine acre Pike Place Market has fresh produce, and speciality foods.  You can walk around and don't to forget snap an awesome photo!

Chicago's Navy Pier Park
Chicago, Illinois
The Pier is on the Chicago shoreline of Lake Michigan, with 50 acres of fun for all ages.  There are some attractions that require a fee but it's free to walk around this massive playground.  It's celebrating 100 years this year. There's plenty of shops restaurants, family attractions, and nightly fireworks. The Pier has a free seasonal  trolley (check the schedule).

Gateway Arch
St. Louis, Missouri
The world's tallest arch, can be viewed from the Malcolm W Memorial Park. An added bonus is the Gateway Geyser, which is the second tallest fountain in the world and tallest in the US.  I think its amazing just seeing the arch.  You can go to the arch and  walk around and stare up at this massive 630 foot monument made of stainless steel.  If heights don't bother you there's a fee for the journey up.
